In the latest installment of HWA Online's
Take 5, "Astonishing" Aaron Williams is put on the hot seat...
HWAOnline:
First question, how are you feeling? You took one heck of a beating at the
hands of Sweet Lou Roberts and Dustin Rayz at HWA CyberClash 3.0, then the
following night you and Dustin Rayz got into it at HWA Uprising. Are you
back to 100%?
Aaron:
I've had about a week or so to let my body heal up so I'm doing ok. My
neck is still a little stiff, I'm not back at 100% yet but I'm very close.
HWAOnline: Back in January,
The Mavericks exploded at HWA Outbreak. Have you considered getting
another tag team partner?
Aaron: I
have no plans of reentering the tag team division right now. One reason is
I was blessed when Alan and I teamed together because we had a very
similar mind set to wrestling so we meshed well together and I doubt I
could get that with anyone else right now. Another is I feel like I have
something to prove as singles wrestler. I've been a tag team wrestler for
the majority of my career, first as a member of a team called Satisfaction
Guaranteed, then with the HWA as a Maverick. So I like being on my
own for the moment. But if I were to get back in to the tag team ranks
down the road I'd like to team with someone could learn from
like a Chris Hero. Or somebody with a more contrasting style to mine, like
Vincent Nothing. I think Vince and I could work well together.
HWAOnline: You obviously look back fondly on your time as a member of
The Mavericks and working with The Solution" Alan Wasylychyn. What are
your feelings on The Maverick Split?
Aaron: My feelings are kind of mixed to be honest, Alan had been a major
influence on my HWA career from my first day with the company. As a matter
of fact I wrestled Alan in my first match in an HWA ring. With
encouragement from others we decided to join up and form The Mavericks
rather than go it alone and we became great friends and great tag team
partners. Until HWA Outbreak... actually looking back things started to
fall apart the day after our ladder match loss to The Irish Airborne at
HWA CyberClash 2.0 when we decided to hire Brock Guffman as our manager...
but that's a whole other story. Let me just finish this answer with this,
Alan made a choice and the choice he made was in my opinion a dumb one.
Now I've made my choice and he's not going to like it.
HWAOnline: You mention things fell apart once Brock Guffman came on
board, do you regret aligning yourself with Guffman?
Aaron:
No, but only because I did learn from him and I've always tried to regret
nothing. I'm a strong believer that the choices you make in life give you
character. They define who you are. At the time Alan and I started to run
with Guffman, professionally we weren't very confident in ourselves so we
opted to get someone who could teach us and encourage us. The natural
choice at that time was Guffman. He truly is a manager of champions, his
track record over the years definitely speaks for itself. However I don't
think Alan and I were really prepared for how much Guffman would change us
as a team. Alan obviously took to him well but I was another story.
Guffman and I were always like oil and water, we just never really mixed.
But in the long run I must admit he did his job. I know that sound crazy
right? But in the beginning we hired him to encourage us and take us to
another level. Well at HWA CyberClash 3.0 he did just that for me. As a
matter of fact I'm not really sure I've ever been so inspired or
encouraged about my in ring ability than I am now. And its all because
Guffman told me that I can't. He said that my wining of the Pick Your
Poison Battle Royal was a fluke. Now I'm ready to prove him wrong. So
thank you Brock Guffman, you actually did me a huge favor that night.
HWAOnline: About this choice you said you've made, a choice you claim
"The Solution" is not going to like. Are you referring to the choice
of what do with the open contract you won at HWA CyberClash 3.0 to take on
anybody on the HWA roster, at any time, in any kind of match?
Aaron: I knew this
question was coming. I've had some time to weigh my options about
what to do with my open contract. I could ask for a match with Alan, a
match where I could make him scream and bleed until he couldn't take it
anymore. Then I thought I could just demand a match with Brock Guffman to
prove him wrong and show him first hand that he shouldn't underestimate
me. As I contemplated my options I remembered something from the past,
from a time when I was a fan of the HWA, I remembered the first time I saw
Brock Guffman. It was in Evendale at an HWA Showcase, Guffman was managing
a group called The A Squad and that night I saw him lead Pepper Parks to
the ring as he challenged Matt Stryker for the HWA Cruiserweight
Championship. Pepper won that night and it was one of the matches that
made me want to become a pro wrestler and some day be the HWA
Cruiserweight Champion. So I realized I could kill three birds with one
stone, take care of Alan, make Guffman feel like someone stole his
ridiculous shoes and walk out the first HWA Cruiserweight Champion in
years. So having said all that I have informed the officials of the HWA
that I'm using my open contract to get a spot in the Cruiserweight
Championship Match at HWA Friday The 13th: Night of the Cruiserweights.
Alan Wasylychyn, Brock Guffman and the rest of the HWA prepare to be
astonished because on June 13th I've got something to prove and I'll stop
at nothing to do it.
