From the air conditioned comfort of my home office, it is time for another edition of Brainwaves!

WHO GETS THE SHOT?

Our special HWA Over The Top Thursday was an interesting evening. We came into the event thinking we would know who would challenge for the HWA Heavyweight Title at next month's HWA Road To Destiny, but The Code had other ideas.

HWA Heavyweight Champion Gerome Phillips was the proverbial one man gang as he illegally entered the battle royal destroying everyone in his path. Now manager Andre Davis stated on the latest episode of The Pulse that there was nobody on the independent wrestling scene who could challenge Gerome Phillips, I know first hand after a conclave with the HWA Championship Committee that a challenger has been named and will be announced tomorrow night at The Sorg!

SIX PACK CHALLENGE

Let's hope that tomorrow night's Six Pack Challenge will yield us a #1 Contender for the HWA American Luchacore Championship at HWA Road To Destiny.

An eclectic and talented group of individuals should make this a highly competitive match and one that any of the participants whether it is Tarek The Legend, Dustin Rayz, Jeremy Madrox, Jesse Emerson, Chris Hall and American Kickboxer 2 has a legit shot at winning.

We'll also know who the winner of the Six Pack Challenge will meet for the HWA American Luchacore Title, it will either be the reigning champion Ron Mathis or his challenger tomorrow night, Sid Fabulous.

Sid has had Mathis' number on three separate occasions, but none of that matters now, he needs to pull it together and get it done with the championship at stake.

Mathis plays the HWA American Luchacore rules like a fiddle, but given his recent matches with Sid, there's got to be at least a little doubt in the back of his mind that he can survive the challenge.

RETURN OF THE HYBRIDS

I'm an anticipating the return of The Hybrids tomorrow night in Middletown, as they prepare to be one of four teams going for the vacant HWA Tag Team Titles at HWA Road To Destiny. Donovan Cain and Jason Lyte have not appeared in tag team action since March, and from the conversations I've had with Donovan, I can tell you that they are more than ready to get back into HWA action.

So ready in fact that the former two time HWA Tag Team Champions have issued an open challenge for any team to face them and I'm anxious to see who steps up.

I'm also anxious to see who else gets an invite to participate in the Four Team Elimination Match next month in Norwood.

Even with only 50% of the participants announced in that Four Team Elimination Match it is still hard to bet against The Irish Airborne, who are now 3-0 since their reinstatement earlier this month, that momentum could be stopped courtesy of The Code tomorrow night.

NEW AND IMPROVED?

Dylan Bostic disappointed a lot of the HWA fans who knew him from some of his previous matches in the HWA when he took the low road in his match with "Southern Angel" Kyle Haven.

Bostic defeated Haven with a handful of tights, putting a black eye on what was meant to be a good clean match between two young men looking to climb the ladder of success in the Heartland Wrestling Association.

From what he said on The Pulse, I don't believe that Dylan saw the err of his ways but this week he won't have the element of surprise in his favor, Kyle Haven knows what he's getting into this time around and will be looking to even things up with Bostic tomorrow night at The Sorg.

Tickets for HWA Road To Destiny went on sale last week at HWA Over The Top Thursday and a good portion of the audience on hand secured their seats for the HWA's annual summer extravaganza.

Online ticket sales have also been in full swing with fans from Kentucky and Illinois getting in on the action too. I also have it on good authority there are fans in Indiana planning on being a part of Road To Destiny as well as fans from my native Northeast Ohio planning on driving down to witness Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley!

Once again a word to the wise... get your tickets early, either online by clicking here or coming out to one of our Wednesday Night live events in Middletown.

And while on the subject of Over The Top... I can't help but recall the Sylvester Stallone film, that also starred WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk and Robert Loggia.

If memory serves me I once got stuck behind Robert Loggia in an airport... it was grueling.

If there is a better late night one two punch than Iron Chef on The Cooking Channel and AWA Wrestling on ESPN Classics I have yet to find it.

The delightful commentary of Dr. Yukio Hattori, the not so delightful commentary of Lee Marshall and Rod Trongard.

The humble style of Iron Chef Chen Kenichi and his hot bean paste, the Top Gun style of Ricky Rice and his best dropkick ever.

If you are a night owl I highly recommend both shows.

Have you seen this man?

HWA Online's Chief Correspondent has been missing in action more than Chuck Norris and Referee Tucker Carson combined.

A recent post on Facebook would lead me to believe he is still alive, but the web team sure misses having The General around on a regular basis.
