A true HWA Original, BJ Whitmer made his triumphant return to the Heartland Wrestling Association on March 19, 2011 when he defeated Gerome Phillips for the HWA Heavyweight Title... BJ's first reign as champion came to an abrupt halt in 2008 when Whitmer was forced to relinquish the title due to injuries... Aside from his accomplishments in the HWA, BJ made a name for himself on the independent wrestling scene in both IWA Mid South and Ring of Honor... Whitmer would lose the HWA Heavyweight Title in August of 2011 to Jesse Emerson, who was assisted by BJ's former manager, Brock Guffman... Whitmer was trained by HWA founder, Les Thatcher.
